Paris - you must have seen these five sights

The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, Sacre-Cœur: very few cities in the world have as many world-class sights to offer as the French capital. Paris is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, most interesting and most worth seeing cities in the world, where visitors can spend weeks without having seen all the sights.

The Eiffel Tower

It is perhaps the most famous building in the world: the Eiffel Tower. At 324 meters high, the 19th century iron lattice tower towers over the French capital and is the eye-catcher par excellence from all directions in the city. It goes without saying that this famous landmark is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Every year, over six million people come to admire the grandiose structure. From the viewing platform at a height of 276 meters, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views in the world over the whole of Paris. If you want to enjoy this view in a very special way, you can order a glass of champagne at the bar on the platform.

Notre-Dame

Of all the sights in Paris, Notre-Dame Cathedral holds the visitor record. It is visited by almost 15 million people every year. In the meantime, however, it must be said to have been visited, as the cathedral unfortunately cannot be visited following the devastating fire in the roof truss in April 2019.

It is currently impossible to predict how long the restoration of the beautiful Gothic church will take. The aim is to reopen Notre-Dame in time for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The Arc de Triomphe

Alongside the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphe is the third main landmark of Paris. With its huge dimensions of almost 50 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 meters deep, it is the largest archway in the world.

The Arc de Triomphe stands in the middle of Place Charles-de-Gaulle, from which the Parisian boulevards run through the French capital in a star shape. As a result, the Arc de Triomphe can be seen from all directions from afar.

Inside the Arc de Triomphe there is a museum about its history. From the viewing platform of the Arc de Triomphe, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the center of Paris.

The Louvre

The Louvre is probably the most famous art museum in the world and a museum of superlatives. Its collection comprises almost 400,000 works of art, of which around 35,000 are exhibited over an area of 70,000 square meters. If you want to take a closer look at everything, you would have to spend days, if not weeks, in the Louvre.

The Louvre is home to so many masterpieces that a list would fill many pages. The undisputed highlight of the exhibitions is the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci. The departments of Italian Renaissance painting and Flemish painting are equally big crowd-pullers.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées

The Champs-Élysées is the most famous street in Paris and definitely one of the most magnificent in the world. Almost two kilometers long and 70 meters wide, the magnificent boulevard connects the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles-de-Gaulle, two of the most important squares in the French capital.

The view from the Champs-Élysées, from the obelisk on the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe on the Place Charles-de-Gaulle, is one of the most beautiful in the world. You will also find numerous stores and restaurants along the boulevard.
