The right health insurance for Germans abroad

Have you ever fallen ill during a trip or had an accident abroad and needed medical treatment? Then you know how important and helpful a good health insurance abroad is!

Regardless of whether you are traveling abroad as an au pair, work-and-travel participant, intern, language student, student, volunteer, long-term vacationer or non-deployed employee, a foreign health insurance is not only useful, but is also required for entry into many countries. Depending on the destination and your reason for traveling, different conditions are attached to the health insurance.

Private health insurance abroad not only protects you from unexpected medical expenses during your time abroad, but also covers the costs of medically necessary repatriation if you have to be flown back to Germany for reasons of illness.

Many people think that they are covered by their statutory health insurance abroad anyway and do not need health insurance abroad. However, the statutory health insurance companies only cover costs for claims if they are in a country that has a social agreement with Germany, the so-called "Schengen states". This includes most European countries. However, if you travel to another country, you will not be covered by your statutory health insurance.

In addition, the statutory health insurances only pay for treatments that they would also pay for in Germany. A return transport is also not a statutory benefit. If the worst comes to the worst, you would have to pay for it yourself and it costs a lot of money.

So why take a risk when you can have flexible insurance coverage for worldwide travel for only € 28.90 per month?

Health insurance includes Corona protection

Our Provisit insurances also offer you protection in case of corona infections if they occur newly and acutely after the start of the contract.

If you are unable to start your stay abroad due to corona virus, it is possible to cancel the insurance or change your travel period before the start of the insurance.

Answers to further questions can be found on our information page on the coronavirus. But we are also happy to help you personally: just contact us!
