Provisit Come In is a substitute private comprehensive health insurance plan for international professionals in Germany (Section 146 VAG, Section 193 (3) VVG). It offers comprehensive health insurance coverage at an affordable premium.
Whether you need a visa application, temporary residence, or are starting a new chapter in your career, Provisit Come In offers you comprehensive, reliable protection - with flexible terms, and easy to take out even from abroad.
Compared to other providers, Provisit Come In stands out thanks to its affordable premiums and maximum flexibility—even as follow-up insurance after other incoming tariffs. For individuals, entrepreneurs, family reunification, EU Blue Card and opportunity card applicants, Provisit Come In is the insurance solution for a smooth start in Germany.
With Provisit Come In, you can insure yourself for up to 60 months in Germany and throughout Europe. But even after the maximum insurance period has expired, you are still covered, because you will automatically be transferred to an unlimited tariff. Another special feature of Provisit Come In is that there is no maximum age for taking out a policy, so you can insure yourself and your accompanying family members regardless of their age.
This is why Provisit Come In is ideal for ...
International workers must take out health insurance immediately upon arriving in Germany. If their income exceeds the Annual Earnings Threshold, they can choose between statutory health insurance (GKV) and private health insurance (PKV). In this case, GKV often becomes very expensive, as contributions are based on income. PKV usually offers better value for money, as confirmed by internal advisory notes.
Provisit Come In is ideal for this group: the plan is a comprehensive private health insurance solution, offers complete coverage, is significantly cheaper than standard private health insurance or statutory health insurance for high earners, and meets all requirements for visas and residence permits. At the same time, it can be taken out flexibly—even before entering the country—making it perfect for highly qualified professionals above the JAEG threshold.
There are specific national visas for self-employed activities (e.g., self-employment visa). Requirements include proof of a viable business model, sufficient funds to cover living expenses, and comprehensive health insurance (not tourist or travel insurance). Provisit Come In meets these requirements, as it is a comprehensive private health insurance policy that is expressly approved for longer-term stays and offers secure, visa-compatible coverage for self-employed persons.
The Opportunity Card allows qualified professionals from non-EU countries to enter Germany for up to one year to search for a job (§ 20a Residence Act).
What are the requirements for the Opportunity Card?
Applicants must meet several criteria, including:
- a state-recognized academic or vocational qualification
- sufficient financial resources to cover living expenses
- language skills at least at German A1 or English B2 level
How much money do you need to prove?
Applicants must demonstrate that they can cover a minimum of €1,091 per month during their stay in Germany. For a full 12-month period, this equals a required total of €13,092.
If the Opportunity Card is issued for a shorter duration, the required funds are reduced accordingly. For example:
- 6 months → €6,546 required
Is health insurance mandatory?
Yes, valid health insurance is a mandatory requirement for visa approval. The coverage must comply with German legal standards.
Which health insurance options are suitable?
- Provisit Come In: A comprehensive health insurance plan that fully meets legal requirements and provides complete coverage for the duration of the stay in Germany.
- Provisit Educare24 (XL plan): A more affordable option with solid benefits, accepted by many German embassies.
However, if you need more extensive coverage or if the embassy has stricter insurance requirements, a full-coverage plan is the better choice.
The EU Blue Card is a popular residence permit for academics from non-EU countries who wish to take up skilled employment in Germany (Section 18g of the Residence Act).
What are the requirements for the EU Blue Card? To obtain the EU Blue Card, applicants must meet several conditions. These include:
- a recognized university degree or a comparable tertiary qualification (at least ISCED level 6)
- a concrete job offer in Germany with a minimum employment period of six months
- a gross annual salary of at least 50,700 euros (2026) – in shortage occupations starting at 45,934.20 euros
What salary threshold applies to me? The required minimum salary depends on the profession. For most professions, the general threshold is 50,700 euros gross per year. For shortage occupations—including STEM professionals, doctors, IT specialists, engineers, and teachers and nurses—the threshold is €45,934.20. This lower threshold also applies to recent graduates who received their degree no more than three years ago.
Is health insurance required? Yes, valid health insurance is mandatory for obtaining a residence permit.
Is Provisit Come In the right insurance for me?
In Germany, there are two types of health insurance: statutory health insurance (GKV) and private health insurance (PKV). Employees who earn more than 77,400 euros gross per year can freely choose which type of health insurance to purchase.
If your salary exceeds this threshold, Provisit Come In is the right choice. It is a comprehensive private health insurance plan specifically designed for international professionals in Germany. It meets all official requirements for the residence permit and can be purchased from abroad before you arrive.
The job search visa allows you to stay for up to 6 months to look for work. You must have a university degree or equivalent qualification, at least five years of professional experience, sufficient financial resources, and—most importantly—health or travel health insurance with at least €30,000 coverage for the entire stay. Provisit Come In meets these requirements, as it is recognized as full health insurance for national visas and provides the necessary comprehensive insurance coverage—without restrictions on employment or length of stay.
For work experience stays in Germany—such as internships, training programs, or professional qualifications—participants from non-EU countries usually require a national training/internship visa (D visa). This requires sufficient financial resources and valid, comprehensive health insurance from the date of entry that covers the entire stay. Provisit Come In fully meets these requirements: The plan is a fully comprehensive health insurance policy that is immediately usable and officially recognized, offering ideal protection for international applicants who want to gain practical work experience in Germany.
Family members—both partners and children—can easily be co-insured through Provisit Come In. The insurance can take effect upon entry or can be taken out later when family members move to Germany. Children benefit from significantly lower premiums. The comprehensive health insurance meets all official requirements for visas and residence permits and offers secure, immediately recognized protection for the entire family.

Exclusion of benefits – the facts
There is no protection in the Provisit Come In health insurance...
a) for such diseases including their consequences as well as for consequences of accidents and for deaths caused by war events;
In the case of war events, there is no obligation to pay benefits only for such illnesses and their consequences as well as for consequences of accidents and for deaths caused by active participation in war events.
Terrorist attacks and their consequences do not count as war events.
Benefits will be paid for military service injuries occurring after the commencement of insurance, subject to paragraph 3.
b) for illnesses and accidents caused by intent, including their consequences;
c) for treatment by physicians, midwives or maternity nurses as well as licensed psychotherapists working in their own practice and entered in the medical register and in hospitals whose invoices the insurer has excluded from reimbursement for good cause if the insured event occurs after the policyholder has been notified of the exclusion of benefits.
If an insured event is pending at the time of notification, there is no obligation to pay benefits for expenses incurred after three months have elapsed since notification;
d) for spa and sanatorium treatment as well as for rehabilitation measures of the statutory rehabilitation institutions;
e) for treatment by spouses, civil partners pursuant to Section 1 of the Civil Partnership Act (see Appendix), parents or children. Proven material costs will be reimbursed in accordance with the tariff;
f) for accommodation due to need of care or custody;
g) for additional costs of medical treatment abroad, if the insured person has traveled abroad for the purpose of medical treatment. In this context, additional costs are deemed to be the cost portions of the treatment abroad that exceed the benefits agreed in the tariff for adequate treatment in Germany. In any case, no more than the actual reimbursable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
This restriction does not apply
- to childbirth if one parent is a national of the country of residence. It is a condition that the policyholder provides proof of citizenship,
- in the case of medically necessary treatment abroad which would not have been possible or only partially possible in Germany,
- if, in the context of an accident, i.e. a treatment that cannot be planned, a foreign hospital is the nearest suitable place of treatment.
For detailed information please read the customer information.
If a medical treatment or other measure for which benefits have been agreed exceeds what is medically necessary, the insurer may reduce its benefits to a reasonable amount. If the expenses for the curative treatment or other services are conspicuously disproportionate to the services provided, the insurer is not obliged to provide benefits in this respect.
If there is also an entitlement to benefits from the statutory accident insurance or the statutory pension insurance, to a statutory medical care or accident care, the insurer is only obliged to pay for the expenses which remain necessary despite the statutory benefits.
If the insured person has a claim against more than one party liable for reimbursement due to the same insured event, the total reimbursement may not exceed the total expenses.
