Market Surveillance Authority

To implement the Accessibility Strengthening Act, the German federal states have agreed to establish a joint market surveillance authority. This is based on an interstate agreement providing for the creation of a central authority located in Saxony-Anhalt. The authority – likely named “Market Surveillance Authority of the States for Accessibility of Products and Services” – will be responsible for monitoring accessible products and services. The agreement must still be ratified by the states before the authority can begin operations. Once ratified, information about the market surveillance authority will be automatically included in this accessibility statement.
