Health insurance for students from Iran

Students from Iran have various options for their study stay in Germany. You can study at a public or private university and choose between short and long study periods abroad.

If you are enrolled at an Iranian university and would like to study in Germany for a semester, an exchange semester through a partner program of your university is the most convenient option. If your university in Iran has a partnership with a German university, both universities exchange guest students with each other. Applying for such a semester is easier for you than applying to a university in Germany on your own.

However, your Iranian university may not have a partner program with the German university you are most interested in. Then you have the possibility to apply directly to a German university of your choice. The application process is then a bit more complicated, but you can study at the university of your choice.

Students from Iran have the option to complete an entire study section at a German university. You will then receive your Bachelor's or Master's degree from a German university.

If you are interested in studying for a bachelor's degree in Germany, a very good knowledge of German is usually indispensable. This is because most Bachelor's programs are in German. For Master's programs, the chances are somewhat better to find offers in English.

If you are an Iranian university graduate and would like to do a PhD, you will find a selection of attractive PhD positions in Germany that you can apply for.

Students from Iran

The Iranian higher education system comprises state and private universities. There are about 180 state-owned universities and about 700 private universities. However, the most prestigious universities in Iran are predominantly state-run.

The degrees in Iran are divided into three parts and are therefore comparable with bachelor, master and doctorate degrees. However, it must be clarified in each individual case whether the German university recognizes your Bachelor's degree obtained in Iran when you apply for a Master's degree in Germany. If this is not the case, you still have the chance of admission at some universities if you make up for the required achievements during your studies.

Iranian state universities do not charge tuition fees. However, at private universities you will have to pay an annual fee of several hundred to a thousand euros. Tuition fees vary depending on the course of study and the private university.

Getting to know Germany during your studies

Studying in Germany is probably the best way to learn and train the German language. The language is often an important key to better understand a foreign culture and to settle in. You will also have an exciting time studying with your fellow students if you can communicate well.

That's why language courses before or during your studies are particularly helpful in developing a confident use of the German or English language. In addition to your studies, you will have some time to explore the country on excursions.

Protected with Provisit Student

Everyone who stays in Germany for a longer period of time is obliged to have a health insurance. Since you come from outside of Europe, you need a German health insurance, or a health insurance that is recognized by German universities and authorities.

In addition, you may need two different types of health insurance, one is travel health insurance if you are entering Germany before the official start of your studies to participate in a study-preparatory language course, and the other is comprehensive health insurance once your studies have begun.

This sounds relatively complicated. But if you take our Provisit Student, you don't have to worry about that anymore, because our Provisit Student insures you both before and during your studies.
