Insurance type: Private travel health insurance
International health insurance covers things that other types of health insurance do not—things that are particularly important when staying in a foreign country. These include, amongst other things, medically supervised repatriation back to your home country.
Price
Our insurance policies are scaled according to age and scope of coverage. This means that premiums are higher for older people. You can also choose to add additional coverage to your health insurance, such as personal liability and accident insurance.
Countries covered: All EU states
The EU member states currently include (as of August 2025):
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain
You are also insured in: Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City
Including
You can take out Provisit Visum either as health insurance only, or add personal liability and accident insurance for just a few cents extra. Provisit Germany is an insurance package that includes health insurance, personal liability insurance, accident insurance, and deportation costs insurance.
Particularly suitable for
We recommend the two tariffs for different target groups, but that is a mere recommendation. For example, for a two-week family visit to Germany / Europe, both Provisit Visum and Provisit Germany can be selected - both equally meet all the requirements of the visa authorities. However, we recommend Provisit Visum because for shorter stays, it costs less than Provisit Germany.
Minimum payment
This is the minimum amount you must pay when you take out the respective insurance, even if you only use it for a very short period of time. Please note, however, that this does not apply in the event of cancellation. If you cancel the contract before it begins (before your entry), you will not pay anything, not even the minimum premium.
Maximum insurance period
Please note the following regarding Provisit Germany: If you take out the policy before entering the country or up to one month after entering, the maximum duration is two years. You can take out Provisit Germany even later than that, up to one year after entering the country. In this case, however, the maximum contract term is reduced by the number of months since your arrival in Germany.
Age limit
Please read our savings tip at the bottom of the page.
Purchase after entry
Provisit Germany can be booked up to one year after entry. This makes the tariff ideal as follow-up insurance. This is important for people who have insurance that ends during their stay or that is terminated by the provider.
Instant insurance confirmation via email
Important for visa applications and immigration authorities.
Meets official requirements, or money back
It happens very rarely, but it does happen: your visa authority does not accept our health insurance for unclear reasons. Even though it meets all the legal requirements for health insurance in the EU. This is frustrating, but at least we will refund your money in full – without any fees. The same applies if your visa application is rejected for other reasons.
For reimbursement, we only require proof of visa rejection.
Free cancellation and rebooking
If you cancel your insurance contract, you will not be charged anything - no minimum premium or processing fee. We will refund the full amount you have paid. Please note that "canceling" here means "terminating" the contract before the insurance coverage begins.
A rebooking, e.g. if your entry is delayed and the start of the insurance needs to be changed, is also free of charge.
Exact-day cancellation
Many insurance companies charge monthly premiums: you have to pay for each full month, even if you no longer need the insurance cover. We do things differently. If your stay ends on April 10 and you leave on that day, you don't have to pay for the entire 30 days of April, but only for 10 days.
More specifically: You pay the full premium for the month of April in advance, and if you inform us that you no longer need the insurance from April 10 onwards, we will refund you the money pro rata for 20 days.
Please note, however, that your cancellation will take effect at the earliest on the day we receive it. This means that you must notify us of your cancellation either before the day of your departure or on the day of your departure at the latest.
Health insurance unlimited coverage
One of the conditions that health insurance must meet in order to be recognized by visa authorities is that the insurance must pay up to €30,000 if necessary. This ensures that high costs incurred by medical treatment, hospital stays, and repatriation are covered. The European Union has set a minimum amount of €30,000 for this purpose.
Provisit Visum and Provisit Germany both exceed these requirements, as both tariffs offer unlimited health insurance coverage.
Medically necessary and medically prescribed repatriation
Repatriating a patient back to their home country can be very expensive. The exact costs depend mainly on the distance and the type of transport. In particular, when it comes to transporting patients from Germany to a non-European country, we are talking about tens of thousands of euros.
Very few of us can easily afford such sums. The risk of having to pay for such repatriation out of your own pocket is one of the biggest risks when staying abroad.
Transportation costs in the event of death/funeral
The same applies for repatriation of the deceased: this would mean financial ruin for those who have to bear these costs. In this case, that would be the relatives of the deceased guest or the person who officially vouched for the guest when applying for a visa.
To prevent this from happening in the first place, there is an EU regulation stipulating minimum coverage of €30,000 for health insurance for visitors who require a visa.
Particularly suitable as follow-up insurance
The health insurance you took out for your stay may expire before your stay ends for various reasons. This also means that your residence permit will expire and you will have to leave the country. To ensure that you can stay in Germany as planned, you need follow-up insurance. Provisit Germany is ideal for this, as you can take out a policy even if you have already been in Germany for a long time, namely up to one year after entry.
Provisit Visum can also be obtained after entry, but only for up to 10 days.
Physical labor covered
Provisit Germany is particularly suitable for work and travel, seasonal workers, caregivers, and similar stays that involve physical work. This is because these activities are also covered by Provisit Germany. This is not the case with Provisit Visum.
This is also not common with comparable travel health insurance policies - physical labor is not usually covered by this type of insurance. Please note that this only applies to jobs that are not subject to social security contributions.
Benefits during pregnancy and childbirth
Unlike most other travel health insurance policies of its kind, Provisit Germany also covers treatment for pregnancy and childbirth. There is one restriction: no benefits are provided for pregnancies that existed before the start of the contract.
Our saving tip: Provisit Germany costs less for people aged between 65 and 69
Provisit Visum is ideal for the Schengen visa (visa type C), which is issued for stays of up to 180 days. Provisit Germany, on the other hand, is very well suited for longer stays (up to 2 years) with visa type D. These are recommendations on our part – both insurance policies meet all the conditions that the visa authorities require of the applicant's health insurance. From the perspective of the visa authorities, it makes no difference whether you take out Provisit Visum or Provisit Germany for your three-month stay.
As is customary with health insurance, premiums are scaled according to the age of the insured person. Provisit Visum has two age categories: “up to 65 years” and “over 65 years.” Persons under 65 years of age pay €1.10 per day, or approximately €33 per month. For insured persons aged 65 and over, Provisit Visum costs €6.50 per day, or approximately €195 per month.
Provisit Germany also has two age categories: up to 29 years (€38.50 per month) and between 30 and 69 years (€64.00 per month). This makes Provist Germany significantly cheaper for people between 65 and 69 years of age.
No price increase when entering next age group
Good to know: The age at the time of signing the contract always applies. This means that if you take out Provisit Visum at the age of 64 for €1.10 per day and celebrate your 65th birthday during your stay in Germany, you will continue to pay only €1.10. Only people who are 65 years old at the time of signing the contract pay the higher premium for the “65 and over” age group.
In addition: Although the maximum age for insurance coverage with Provisit Germany is 69, this does not mean that your insurance coverage ends when you turn 70. As usual, it ends at the time agreed upon in the contract.
