Luxembourg is small, but has several magnificent castles and fortresses. You can discover seven particularly impressive examples of these in the so-called Valley of the Seven Castles. These include Hollenfels Castle, Mersch Castle, Ansemburg Castle, Septfontaines Castle, the Gréiweschlass in Koerich, the Fockeschlass and Ansembourg Castle.

The official name of this region is Eischtal. It has a wild and romantic landscape, through which the 37 km long hiking trail "Valley of the Seven Castles" runs. Attentive hikers will also notice the legacy of former steelworkers who once worked in the mines here.

This is a photo exhibition by Edward Steichen from the 1950s. It came to Luxembourg from faraway New York in the 1960s to the castle in the village of Clerf.
